Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is a 261-bed facility that has been dedicated to providing quality care in Kentucky for over 90 years. The organization offers more than 400 services, including every major specialty and most subspecialties, and is a proud member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
PMC has completed a $150 million expansion, adding an 11-story clinic and a 10-story parking garage to its main campus. The new clinic will house office and clinical space for outpatient surgery, as well as exam rooms for primary and specialty care physicians. The enclosed parking garage has spaces for 1,162 cars.
The hospital has approximately 2,500 employees and 350 credentialed providers, all focused on providing top-quality patient care.
With a progressive, supportive administration and board of directors, our employees and physicians have the tools and training they need to provide excellent quality health care. Technology, innovation, vision and finance are rapidly driving Pikeville Medical Center towards its goal of being a National Leader in Health Care.
Pikeville Medical Center is home to some of the most sophisticated, technologically advanced medical equipment to be found anywhere.
On May 23, 2013, Officials from Mayo Clinic and Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) announced that PMC is now a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

State-Of-The-Art Diagnostic Equipment PMC has invested millions to offer the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment available anywhere.
We have purchased two Toshiba 320 slice scanners. To our knowledge, we were the first and only hospital anywhere to have two of these scanners on one campus.
Our diagnostic imaging is now even more advanced with the addition of two 1.5 Tesla MRI machines and a 3.0 Tesla Verio Open MRI!
In addition, the PACS system now allows physicians to have access to many of their patients' diagnostic images within seconds after they are scanned, whether the physician is in Pikeville, or on the other side of the globe.
4-D Echocardiograms Pikeville Medical Center was the first hospital in Kentucky to offer the exceptional imaging delivered by the GE Vivid Dimension 7 "4-D" echocardiogram system. With this system, our cardiologists can virtually see inside the chambers of your heart, watch it beat, and observe the movement from almost any angle imaginable.
Digital Mammography PMC has invested in three Selenia Digital Mammography systems that allows radiologists far better imaging than previously available. This leads to earlier detection, more accurate diagnoses, and more lives saved.
Top quality Cancer Care
Pikeville Medical Center recently purchased two RapidArc™ linear accelerators to treat cancer patients. This represents an investment valued at over $10 million. These accelerators are so advanced they can track and target a tumor in a patient's lung as they breathe, and the tumor moves. Our cancer center has been continuously accredited by the Commission on Cancer since 1993.
