What is Laparoscopic Surgery?

Surgeons using a laparoscope, a lighted scope that includes a camera and magnifier, can get a more detailed view of the stomach and intestines during surgery. The tool allows a surgeon to see clearly inside the patient without making a large incision.

Laparoscopy requires very small incisions. The most noted benefit of this type of surgery is recovery time. Small incisions typically mean wounds heal faster. The more comfortable recovery also means less chance of an infection than larger wounds.
