Pikeville Medical Center’s two neurosurgeons have a long history of treating patients together. Dr. Duane Densler and Dr. Norman Mayer met previously at the University of Louisville, where they both completed their residency. In June of 2007, Dr. Densler began practicing at Pikeville Medical Center, offering new services to our region. After only treating patients in the area for 5 months, the need for another neurosurgeon grew. Dr. Densler was instrumental in recruiting Dr. Mayer to PMC, in hopes to expand the neurological surgery program Pikeville Medical Center’s commitment to provide the best in neurological technology, and Densler’s and Mayer’s passion to meet the needs of Eastern Kentucky offers hope to many.
