Recognized as the National Hospital of the Year for two consecutive years, Pikeville Medical Center has grown with the needs of the region during its 86-year history. The hospital’s recent affiliation with Cleveland Clinic’s Heart Surgery Program underscores its commitment to excellence. This 261-bed facility offers more than 300 services, from cardiac and cancer care to orthopedic and neurosurgery programs. This year, four new specialties were introduced: gynecological oncology, hand surgery, pediatric endocrinology and rheumatology. To accommodate such rapid growth, the hospital is undergoing a $100 million expansion, which will feature an 11-story medical office building and a nine-story parking garage. Hospital leadership has made substantial investments in state-of-the-art technology that enables the recruitment of top physicians. Patients have recognized these efforts, and their satisfaction scores have placed PMC among the nation’s leading hospitals.
