Rose Ann Lee Shepherd was baptized by Revered Kaminski Robinson and Asst. Chaplin Troy Tackett in the PMC chapel on Tuesday.
PIKEVILLE, Ky. – “I enjoyed it very much,” Rose Ann Lee Shepherd says, smiling at her family.

She was referring to her baptism in the Pikeville Medical Center chapel on Tuesday, but it could just as well be her response to life in general.

Shepherd, 70, who is terminally ill, decided that she wanted to be baptized on Tuesday. However, she didn’t want the baptism to be performed with regular water. She requested that water from the creek be added to the tub, and maintenance workers were quick to head out and fill a bucket to honor her wish.

Revered Kaminski Robinson and Assistant Chaplin Troy Tackett performed a short ceremony before the baptism including singing and prayer.

The baptism was the first thing that Shepherd wanted to do. The second thing was to go home.

After spending one final night at PMC after being baptized, Shepherd was allowed to return to her Knott County home. She had been under medical care for 12 days prior to her release.
