Awards and Recognitions:

October 2017 – Pikeville Medical Primary Stroke Center has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite.

August 2017 – Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) announces it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® that indicates three year accreditation for the hospital, Leonard Lawson Cancer Center (LLCC) and the LLCC’s lab.

December 2016 – Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) announced that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.

November 2016 – Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) announces it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®
for certifications in total hip replacement, total knee replacement and hip fracture. PMC is the only hospital in Kentucky to have attained all three of these certifications, which demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to providing a quality orthopedic program.

March 2016 – PMC receives National Outstanding Achievement Award with Commendation Gold Status:  Award recognizes cancer programs that achieve excellence in providing highest quality care to cancer patients. This is the highest award granted to a cancer center by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.

December 2015 – PMC recognized as a Silver Award Winner by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
This award was given for conducting activities that promote enrollment in state organ donor registries.

November 2015 – PMC earned the Women’s Choice Award by WomenCertified
Awards earned for 2016 include:

November 2015 – PMC receives accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care

September 2015 – PMC named one of  “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience” by WomenCertified
The America’s 100 Best Hospitals scoring process is unique in that it is the ONLY national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction. The process begins with scores derived for each hospital in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) database. The score takes a subset of the questions HCAHPS uses that research and experience shows are more important to women than to men. Weight is applied to each of those questions to adjust for relative importance to arrive at a numerical score. The scoring is totally objective and uniform. The best 100 scores in each of the 4 size categories determine the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Outstanding Patient Experience award winners.

September 2015 – PMC named one of  “America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care” by WomenCertified
The America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care scoring process is unique in that it is the ONLY national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction. The process begins with identifying which hospitals are certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center (some are Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Centers) by the Joint Commission. Then, our high standards require that the center meets clinical and patient level data that qualifies them as excellent clinically with high patient recommendations.

June 2015 – PMC receives top patient satisfaction rating
Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is among the top five percent of hospitals in America to achieve the highest rating possible – five-stars – for patient satisfaction in a new system recently introduced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

May 2015 – PMC praised for mom, baby care
PMC was recognized for its participation in the Kentucky Hospital Engagement Network’s and the Anthem Foundation’s “Improving Patient Safety for Mom and Baby” initiatives. They significantly reduced the number of early elective deliveries (inductions) and cesarean deliveries performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy.

April 2015 – Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) has received the Get With The Guidelines® -Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award
PMC recognized for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients.
PMC earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period.  These measures include aggressive use of medications and risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.

March 2015 – Wound Care Top Performer
The Pikeville Medical Wound Care Center was recognized as one of the top performers for the 2014 Diabetes Campaign by Healogics Inc. Healogics’ Diabetes Campaign encouraged Wound Care Centers to utilize community outreach to educate health care providers about chronic wounds caused by diabetes.

 

December 2014 – PMC recognized as a “Top Performer” by the Joint Commission
As a Top Performer, PMC achieved a performance either at or near 100% or every major area. By adhering to the strict guidelines, PMC has increased patient safety and is able to deliver healthier patient outcomes.

December 2014 – PMC Awarded Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) gold medal
for promoting organ, eye and tissue donation within the hospital and community. The award was presented by KODA (The Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates)

December 2014 – PMC’s cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation departments received reaccreditation from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation for meeting strict standards of practice

March 2014 National American Organization of Nurse Executive Award (Partnership Award) presented to Cheryl Hickman. The award was in recognition of her outstanding leadership and significant contribution during Hurricane Katrina, her ability to spearhead PMC’s Nurse Navigator Program and the impact she made through her active engagement as a member of the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

PMC was named as the 2010-2011 National Hospital of the Year by The American Alliance of Healthcare Providers. We are the Nation’s only repeat winner.

PMC is ranked 5th in the nation and 1st in Kentucky in Modern Healthcare Magazine’s Best Places to Work for 2011. This is the 4th consecutive year of national recognition by Modern Healthcare.

Pikeville Medical Center has been recognized as a Best Regional Hospital in three specialty areas (Gynecology, Ear Nose & Throat and Nephrology) by U.S. News and World Report for 2011-2012.

PMC was named as one of “America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience” by WomenCertified.

In 2011, PMC’s IT department was ranked 7th in the nation in Healthcare IT News’ Where to Work: Best Hospital IT Departments.
PMC was named the #1 hospital to work for in Kentucky in Best Places To Work In Kentucky for 2010 and again in 2011.

In 2011, we were awarded the Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus Award by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for maintaining strict adherence to nationally accepted best practices for stroke care. This is their highest award offered for stroke care.

The Excellence through Insight Award was presented to PMC for rating #1 nationally for patient satisfaction in Inpatient Oncology and Inpatient Rehabilitation.
