About Dr. Thompson

Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) proudly announces the addition of Tiffany Thompson, DO, Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN).

Dr. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and her medical degree from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville.

A full-service OB/GYN, Dr. Thompson specializes in family planning, prenatal and postpartum care, osteopathic manipulative treatment in pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding and minimally invasive gynecological surgery.

“My patient encounters are relaxed, but I am a fierce advocate for patient care and I believe this should always be top priority,” said Dr. Thompson. “If my patient has a discomfort, I genuinely care about her concern and make it my goal to address these, often very personal conditions, so she can return to her daily life.”

As a native to eastern Kentucky, Dr. Thompson is eager to return home and provide healthcare to the region.

“Since I entered this world at PMC, it only feels natural I should return home to the hospital where I was born,” she said. “I’m truly excited to have the opportunity to return home to east Kentucky and join the leading women’s health care team.”

Dr. Thompson feels PMC provides women and babies in the area with top-notch resources.

“We are extremely fortunate to have a facility like PMC in the heart of the mountains with the resources to handle routine labor and deliveries, as well as higher risk pregnancies and advanced gynecologic procedures,” said Dr. Thompson. “It was important for me to join a practice with access to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU team helped solidify my decision to join the PMC family.”

Dr. Thompson is excited to join the PMC team.

“I look forward to joining the strong work ethic of the PMC family and continuing to provide phenomenal care to all of our families and friends,” she added.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Thompson enjoys working with high school cheerleading, baking cupcakes, playing the piano and supporting University of Kentucky basketball.

Dr. Thompson is located on the 7th floor of the PMC Clinic. For more information or to schedule a physician appointment, call 606-218-2207.
