Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) proudly announces the addition of Ziaullah Virk, MD, rheumatologist.

Dr. Virk earned his medical degree and completed his internship in internal medicine from the King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. He went on to complete a rheumatology fellowship at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans.

He is also board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Virk chose this specialty because he enjoys difficult cases and chronic diseases. Rheumatology gives him the opportunity to work through and get to the root cause of a patient’s medical concerns.

His mentors are Rheumatologists, Stephen Lindsey, MD, and Luis R. Espinoza, MD, who serves as Rheumatology Chief. Dr. Virk learned a lot from them during his fellowship years at LSU.
“The most valuable lesson I learned from Dr. Espinoza and Dr. Lindsey is to keep working and never give up,” said Dr. Virk. “Always look missing links in a difficult case and rethink the situation.”
Dr. Virk’s goals are to diagnose and treat the patients of this area and keep them healthy, long-term.

“My patients can expect me to listen and be compassionate towards their medical needs,” said Dr. Virk. “In my practice, I am dedicated to figuring out how to best help my patients and provide them with quality care.”

He chose PMC because it is a tertiary facility with an excellent reputation.

“There is a great need for rheumatology care in the area,” Dr. Virk explained. “I hope my expertise can serve the people of the region.”

When he is not taking care of patients, Dr. Virk enjoys sports such as squash and cricket, and spending time with his wife, Faryal and teenaged daughter, Minha.

Dr. Virk is located on the 8th floor of the PMC Clinic Building. To schedule an appointment with him, please call 606-218-2208.
