Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this program, the participants will be able to:
- Review the basic pathophysiology of atrial fibrillation
- Review current data regarding ablation and antiarrhythmic drugs
- Review current atrial fibrillation guidelines
- Assess the basic physiology of cardiogenic shock
- Review how mechanical circulatory support can be utilized to reverse shock physiology
- Define how an understanding of physiology allows clinicians to select the best device for the patient
- Discuss the scope of disease and current management of TR
- Review the commercially available options for transcatheter management of severe TR- including transcatheter edge to edge repair and transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement and appropriate patients for the respective therapies
- Review the evidence supporting a more plant forward diet as optimal for prevention and potential reverse of CVD
- Interpret and become familiar with data supporting CVD reversal from the work that have been published by Drs. Esselstyn and Ornish
- Know what lifestyle medicine is and how it is useful in both the primary and secondary prevention of chronic disease including CVD
- Recognize key steps that prevent pacemaker and ICD infection
- Review why early intervention for suspected infection saves lives
- Review coronary calcium scoring for primary prevention
- Assess CT coronary angiogram for chest pain evaluation
- Discuss cardiac MRI for myocardial evaluation
- Identify the key clinical features, diagnostic criteria and management of infectious endocarditis
- Identify recent advances in prevention, diagnosis, and management, and how they may be incorporated in the complex care of patients with Cardiovascular implantable electronic device infection
- Review indicators for minimally invasive cardiac surgery
- Assess the benefits of minimally invasive cardiac surgery
- Identify the risks of minimally invasive cardiac surgery
