Pikeville Medical Center is proud to welcome Abdallah E. Kharnaf, MD, to the medical staff. Dr. Kharnaf specializes in pulmonary medicine which is the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions and diseases.
He also specializes in Critical Care and Intensive Care Unit management.
“I am so thrilled and excited to join the Pikeville Medical Center family,” said Dr. Kharnaf. “I look forward to starting my new job, seeing my patients and progressing in my career.”
Receiving a medical degree from the University of Tripoli in 2005, Dr. Kharnaf served as senior resident physician and teaching assistant at the Tripoli Medical Center until 2010.
Later in 2010, he was offered an externship in internal medicine at Jewish Hospital — Mercy Health located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Kharnaf completed a residency in internal medical at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, which is the teaching site for the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He served as assistant chief resident during his last year.
He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Tufts Medical Center, which is the principal teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine. It is an internationally-respected academic medical center located in downtown Boston.
“I like teaching and am looking forward to having students and sharing the knowledge that I gained during my training,” said Dr. Kharnaf.
Dr. Kharnaf is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
“I look forward to making new friends and getting to know the people and culture of Pikeville and eastern Kentucky,” added Dr. Kharnaf.
Dr. Kharnaf will be seeing patients at the PMC Clinic – 8th floor.
