About Doctor Randhawa

Dr. Randhawa specializes in open-heart procedures, off-pump bypass, valve surgery, lung and chest wall resections, aortic and peripheral vascular surgeries, and complex cardiac procedures.

He received his Bachelor of Arts and Doctorate of Medicine from Boston University. He completed residency programs from both the University of Chicago and the University of Wisconsin. He is board certified through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery.

When asked why he chose his specialty, Dr. Randhawa said “As I learned more about the big advances in medicine, cardiac surgery had a prominent role and it continues to do so. It was a challenging, long and difficult process to become a cardiac surgeon, but the rewards have been tremendous in all the patients I have been able to help live a longer life.”

Dr. Randhawa says he was the first in his my family to go to college. “I am a self-made man. I migrated to the US as a young man, worked hard and put myself through college and medical school. I also served honorably in the Army National Guard, the Air Force reserve, and ultimately the Air National Guard,” stated Dr. Randhawa.

He describes himself as a representative of someone who has lived the American Dream.

Dr. Randhawa has worked at PMC since September of 2019 as a locum (temporary professional position). During that time he says he got to know the excellent staff and the success of the cardiac surgery program and wanted to help contribute to their continued success.

As Dr. Randhawa joins the PMC Heart and Vascular Institute, he will be practicing alongside cardiothoracic surgeons Dermot T. Halpin, MD, and Abdulla Attum, MD, in the PMC 2nd Floor Clinic.
