This week, the Mettu Children’s Hospital mascot, Buddy Bear, brightened the day of one of his biggest fans.  During a recent visit to the hospital, Paxton was mesmerized as he watched Buddy Bear on the monitors. His mom, Misty, says Paxton gets excited whenever he sees the Mettu Children’s Hospital commercial on television, which made the visit from Buddy truly magical.

When Buddy stepped into the waiting room this week, joy filled the air and Paxton quickly came over to give him a hug and a high-five. The two spent several minutes together, and Buddy quickly learned how strong and witty young Paxton is. Buddy showed Paxton how to play the games in the waiting room, and they got to share some laughs.

For many families, the days of traveling hours from Eastern Kentucky for pediatric care are a thing of the past. Pediatric patients can now receive quality care close to home, thanks to a dedicated and highly trained staff at the Mettu Children’s Hospital.

At PMC, enhancing pediatric healthcare is an ongoing priority. That commitment has resulted in the only children’s hospital in Eastern Kentucky. PMC officials were intensely focused on creating a comfortable space for patients and their families through inviting décor, high-tech patient beds, full, in-room private bathrooms, and more. One of the highlights for many pediatric patients is getting to meet the Mettu Children’s Hospital’s lovable mascot, Buddy.
