Emergency Department RN and frontline PMC Healthcare Hero, Jeremy Osborne has been instrumental in helping PMC fight the novel Covid-19 virus.

Osborne remembers that back in March 2020, PMC’s Emergency Department (ED) Director, Dale Morton began to educate staff on the potential virus that was beginning to hit the country in larger cities.

Osborne said, “With every passing week, we learned more and more, and we had to adapt how we were caring for our patients to keep them safe. We slowly began seeing more positive cases and we began to experience the gravity of the situation.”

Now, Osborne says the ED is experiencing a significant number of COVID-19-related symptoms.

“As we continue to see a rise in positive cases, our department has now moved our potential COVID-19 patients to a separate area of the ED to keep our other patient population safe,” said Osborne.

The most challenging shifts he has ever had as an ED RN in his nearly five years at PMC have been during the pandemic.  He is often reminded by close friends in the department that he is not alone.

One of Osborne’s biggest concerns during the pandemic is getting the virus and passing it to someone he loves.

“If someone has or think they have COVID-19, please self-quarantine. If someone is experiencing mild symptoms, stay at home. These include mild fever, body aches, chills, and cough. If for any reason someone begins to experience shortness of breath, please come see us in the ED.” Osborne adds, “If individuals are not experiencing any symptoms, but just want to be tested, please utilize PMC’s drive-thru testing.”

In his spare time, Osborne enjoys spending time with his wife, Brandy, and their dog, Riley. Together, they enjoy taking walks and spending time around their backyard fire pit.
