Medical assistants (MA) are a vital part of the patient care team at Pikeville Medical Center

(PMC). MAs are often the first point of contact with patients and are responsible for updating medical history and contact information. They complete administrative and clinical tasks and assist other healthcare professionals. Medical assistants typically measure vital signs, help physicians with patient examinations, schedule patient appointments, prepare blood samples for laboratory tests and enter patient information into medical records.

“I love my job, and I have the best patients in the world! They are always so appreciative of everything we do for them,” stated Haley, an MA at the Lawson Cancer Center at PMC.

“There’s always more to learn as a medical assistant, and oncology is the best field I can imagine working in. My favorite part about working at PMC is that there is always room for growth. I truly feel like I’m valued as an employee at PMC, rather than being just a number.”

To become a Medical Assistant, one must complete a medical assistant program or show proof of registration/certificate. PMC is actively hiring MAs with a starting pay of $12.64/hr and a generous sign-on bonus of $2,500-$5,000.
