On January 30, 2020, Pikeville Medical Center experienced an information security incident, which affected some of our IT systems.  We are pleased to report that most of our systems, including patient care systems, have already been brought back online.

 

From a clinical perspective, we are fully operational with all inpatient and outpatient services available at our hospital and clinics.

 

This incident was greatly minimized by our proactive, preventative safeguards, preparedness measures and prompt response. Upon discovery of the incident, we immediately took steps to secure our network.  External experts were engaged to assist us in the investigation and remediation process. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

 

Several of our internal office IT systems will remain offline temporarily, as we verify the integrity of each system and investigate this matter further.  We will work with partners and vendors to share instructions with them, if and as needed.
