Pikeville Medical Center’s (PMC) heart program hit another milestone on May 24th with the ribbon cutting of the PMC Heart and Vascular Institute, the result of a $35.2 million capital investment.  Governor Andy Beshear and Congressman Hal Rogers were joined by several physicians and staff who are committed to improving the heart health of their patients. The new space includes a new cardiac rehabilitation department, 29 exam rooms and two waiting rooms.  An EDA grant funded two electrophysiology cath labs and one new cardiac cath lab for a total of $2.5 million dollars. According to the CDC, Kentucky ranks ninth in the nation for deaths caused by heart disease, which serves to strengthen PMC’s commitment to provide the most advanced heart care available in Eastern Kentucky.  For more information on the PMC Heart and Vascular Institute, call 606-430-2201, or visit the Heart & Vascular Institute pages on this site.
