Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is once again celebrating national recognition, being named one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation in patient safety for Heart Attack Treatment by CareChex (R). This ranking compares clinical quality, patient safety and performance of nearly all acute care hospitals providing this life-saving service.

One common quality measure created by the American Heart Association for certain types of heart attacks is “door-to-balloon time,” which measures the time from the patient’s arrival at the hospital until they receive treatment to re-open the affected arteries. PMC takes great pride in knowing its door-to-balloon time average is twice as fast as the national average, which is proof of PMC’s commitment to patient care.

“I have been blessed to be a part of Pikeville Medical Center’s growth for many years. And, I couldn’t be more proud of the amazing team we have here now,” said PMC Senior Vice President and Chief Regulatory Officer Cheryl Hickman. “Patient safety is a top priority at PMC, and it shows when we are recognized for our efforts on a national level.”
