A dedicated team of full and part time chaplains, staff and volunteers are present for any crisis or spiritual need that might arise. Our goal is to contact every patient every day. It is our desire to be available to all those who come through our doors. The Chapel, located on the second floor of the May Tower, is open 24 hours a day for prayer, reflection and meditation. It is a quiet and reverent atmosphere for people of all faiths.
You can contact the chaplain on duty 24 hours a day at extension 3197.
Each day begins with a hospital wide overhead devotion and prayer around 9:00am. and each day is closed with an appropriate evening devotion prior to 9:00pm.
Our chaplains contribute weekly printed devotional material for the hospital’s Medical Leader newspaper known as the “Chaplain’s Corner”.
Sunday worship experiences are held on the second floor of the May Tower in the chapel at 9:30am every Sunday. These services are non-denominational and uplifting. The services are brief, 15 to 20 minutes, at the most, and are televised live throughout the hospital. Every patient or waiting area has an opportunity to participate. Communion, anointing oil and prayer cloths are always available.
The Pikeville Medical Center Chapel is located on the second floor of the May Tower. The Chapel is a place for weekly worship services, special Holy Day Services, song services, weddings, memorial services, prayer groups and more. A state-of-the-art lift allows us to perform baptisms directly from a bed, if approved by the attending physician. All the activities of a local congregation are performed in our chapel and meditation room.
