With the addition of neurologist Dr. Naveed Ahmed, PMC’s Neurology service completes the Neurosciences including Stroke, Physical Rehabilitation and Neurosurgery services.
Dr. Ahmed has been caring for patients in the region for more than a decade. He specializes in headaches, strokes, spine disorders and neuro-rehabiliation and has a special interest in treating Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, seizures, neuropathies and dementia.
He is board certified in neurology and stroke medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is also board certified in the field of headache medicine and spinal cord injury medicine.
Currently, Dr. Ahmed serves as the Director of the PMC Primary Stroke Center, Chairperson of Neurology at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine – University of Pikeville and adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of Kentucky. He is the past Chief of Staff at PMC and now serves as a past president on the hospital’s medical executive committee.
