Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) has been named to the Forbes list of Best-in-State Employers for a third consecutive year. Forbes, a renowned American business publication, and Statista, Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, recently presented the prestigious award to PMC for 2022.

America’s Best-in-State Employers 2022 were identified based on results from an independent study from approximately 70,000 Americans working for companies in the United States with more than 500 employees. Across 25 industry sectors, 1,380 employers were ranked among the top employers, with Pikeville Medical Center appearing on the list for the third year in a row.

“We are excited to have been recognized on the Forbes list of Best-in-State Employers 2022,” said Donovan Blackburn, PMC Chairman, President and CEO. “PMC is committed to becoming a national leader in healthcare and the best place to work in Kentucky. This award reaffirms the efforts we make every day to prioritize our medical and non-medical staff, who are the heartbeat of our organization and the reason we provide outstanding care to our patients.”

“Pikeville Medical Center is consistently receiving awards such as this one from Forbes because we are committed to making smart investments like the recent switch to Epic, the premiere electronic medical record system,” explained PMC Chief Medical Officer, Aaron Crum, MD. “PMC is the advanced specialty referral center for the region and the single largest hospital in Eastern Kentucky, which means our patients are receiving specialized medical care close to home.  It also means we can offer excellent jobs and benefits to those who call this region home.”

Some of the benefits mentioned by Dr. Crum include: employer-paid life and long-term disability, extensive time-off package including 12 annual sick days, two personal days and two weeks’ vacation, medical insurance that includes 100% coverage with no deductible when utilizing PMC services and physicians and a host of other benefits.

The Forbes Best-in-State Employer evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family. Employees were also asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industries and state what stood out either positively or negatively.
