Many patients who have been diagnosed with cancer are treated with radiation therapy, which uses targeted doses of high-energy radiation to kill cancer cells and reduce tumor size.  Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) has three Board Certified Radiation Oncologists on staff dedicated to fighting cancer. Ruth Lavigne, MD, Brad Collett, MD and Elyn Wang, MD work together to individualize and customize care for the patients of the Lawson Cancer Center at PMC.

“At the Lawson Cancer Center, the patients we treat become part of our family on their very first visit,” explained Dr. Lavigne. “We have an incredibly compassionate staff who deeply care about each of their patients and giving them the best care possible. We are truly blessed to have some of the most advanced technology available to fight cancer.”

“We are here to support our patients along their journey, deliver hope and work diligently to provide solutions that will advance their care,” said Dr. Wang. “Once our team determines a patient could benefit from radiation therapy, we are intensely focused on delivering the most effective care we can.”

The Lawson Cancer Center at PMC provides full-service cancer treatment and follow-up care. Staffed by expert oncologists, surgical specialists, nurses, pharmacists, patient navigators and many other highly trained healthcare professionals, the Lawson Cancer Center makes it convenient for patients across Eastern Kentucky to receive advanced cancer care close to home.
