Adolescent Addiction Program
Many people know the pain, trials and tribulations associated with having someone close to them addicted to drugs, and just how difficult it can be to find the help that they need. With a keen awareness of that need, and what it takes to help both the addicted, and those who care for them, Pikeville Medical Center has initiated an adolescent addiction services program that opened on Aug. 1, 2006.
The program will focus on intensive sessions of group therapy with different avenues taken based on the particular need of those involved.
Nell Johnson, director of the program, believes that this format gives the addicted adolescent a way to connect with others.
Some of the materials used in the therapy sessions will include The Seven Challenges by Dr. Robert Schwebel, Stepping into Freedom (used for 12 step groups), and Life Line (used for a faith based, insight group).
This variety of materials will help to ensure that each person finds the form of help that best suits them.
Johnson asks that anybody interested in setting up an appointment for an adolescent to call (606) 218-4686. |
