Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) provides advanced technology alongside a highly trained staff to provide heart care for the region. State-of-the-art equipment enables PMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute physicians to perform cutting-edge procedures that were previously only available in larger cities. Together, these things keep patients close to home and family for both the procedure and the recovery time that follows.

Interventional Cardiology is one of the many specialties offered at PMC. Interventional cardiology is a subspecialty of cardiology that uses various diagnostic tools and imaging techniques to measure cardiovascular functions such as blood pressure and blood flow in major arteries throughout the body and within the heart’s different chambers. More specifically, interventional cardiology is the medical care area that diagnoses and treats coronary artery disease, vascular disease, structural heart disease and congenital heart defects using complex, specialized catheter-based techniques.

The Interventional Cardiology team at the PMC Heart and Vascular Institute is staffed by 3 Interventional Cardiologists, Muhammad Ahmad, MD, Arun Nagabandi, MD, and Deepak Pattanshetty, MD.

Dr. Ahmad is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Nagabandi is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Pattanshetty is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and specializes in the emergent treatment of heart attacks, diagnostic heart catheterization, coronary stents & angioplasty and medical management of blocked/clogged arteries.
