About Dr. Gayheart

Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) proudly announces the addition of Dustin T. Gayheart, MD, urologist.

Dr. Gayheart received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Ky., and his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture biotechnology from the University of Kentucky.

He completed his urology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Gayheart specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder, prostate, and kidney cancer, bladder leakage, testicular masses and cancer, kidney stones and enlarged prostate.

He said, “I have always been interested in being a surgeon. As I rotated through the options in medical school, urology peaked my interest.”

He places a strong focus on building patient relationships.

“I strive to make sure my patients are comfortable and have a good experience,” he said.

His mentor, Dr. Assimos, taught him to always put the patient first and everything else will take care of itself, a valuable lesson he models still today.

Dr. Gayheart has been published on several occasions, presented papers at regional and national meetings, and served as Chief Resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, fishing, hunting, University of Kentucky sports and most of all spending time with his wife, Dana, and their four children.

Dr. Gayheart is located on the second floor of the PMC Clinic. For more information, call 606-218-3500. To schedule an appointment, call 606-218-1000.
